The Denver Broncos were handed their second loss of the season by Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers.  In last weeks game against the Atlanta Falcons, Coach Kubiak was hospitalized due to a migraine so Special Teams Coordinator Joe DeCamillis served as the interim head coach for this game.

In the first quarter, the Broncos found themselves struggling on both sides of the ball once again.  With 8:00 minutes left on the clock, quarterback Phillip Rivers found tight end Hunter Henry for six points.  Place kicker Josh Lambo would kick it for the extra point, putting the Chargers up 7-0.  The rest of the quarter was scoreless for both teams.

The scoring in the second quarter started with a 37 yard field goal from the Chargers.  The Denver broncos would soon answer with a 29 yard field goal kicked by Brandon McManus; bringing the differential to 7 points.

The score at halftime: Broncos 3, Chargers 10.

In the third quarter the placekicker for San Diego scored all the points.  In the start of the quarter Lambo kicked a 21 yard field goal. During Denver’s next possession, wide receiver Jordan Taylor fumbled leading to a turnover at Denver’s own 37.  The turnover resulted in a 31 yard field goal for the Chargers.  Lambo would score again on a 32 yard field goal, putting the Chargers up 19-3.  As the quarter neared an end, the Broncos failed to put any points on the board with McManus missing a 37 yard field goal attempt.

Opening the fourth quarter, Denver gave up a safety because of a holding call, earning the Chargers two extra points.  With 8:08 left on the game clock, the Broncos would score their first touchdown of the game as Trevor Siemian found WR Bennie Fowler for a five yard score.  Denver fumbled again late in the fourth, but nothing came from the fumble.  As the game came to a closing, McManus would end it with a 46 yard field goal.

The Broncos lost 21-13.

Time of possession for Denver was 26:32, and 33:28 for the Chargers.

The Broncos next game will be held in Denver against the Houston Texans.  The game will be broadcast on ESPN.  Kickoff is at 6:30 pm MT.
