CASTLE ROCK – Even though Thanksgiving was still a few days away, the weekend before the feast was the perfect time to do a little Christmas shopping for friends and family by attending a craft fair at Bonaventure Retirement Home.

Local Castle Rock artists got together at the home for a craft show on Nov. 21 and 22 to sell to the public. The craft fair was open from 9-3 pm featuring multiple vendors.

They included local shops such as Chloe and Isabelle, Mary-Kay Cosmetics, as well as private vendors including two ACC students. One of them, Hannah Anderson, was co-coordinator of the event with Tosh Lambert, current memory care manager at Bonaventure.

Anderson, whose drawings are very traditional, was invaluable as the co-coordinator of the craft show.

A wide variety of crafts were available for sale, including jewelry, drawings, photographs, DIY projects, cosmetics and embroidered bags

Some of the crafts came from retail stores and others were homemade crafts with prices ranging from $5 to $90, making it easy for customers to find something in their price range.

This was especially true for the residents of Bonaventure who were also among those browsing that day. It was a chance for them to shop without the hassle of leaving their home.

The staff was professional and attentive providing coffee and lunch for every vendor who participated in the fair. This type of service will bring current vendors back and encourage other artists to want to be part of this inviting venue.

Saturday proved to be the busiest day, mostly because of the football game on Sunday. Despite the lower turnout on Sunday, vendors were pleased with sales and will return.

The organizes, as well, were happy with the attendance at the fair, considering it was a first time event at Bonaventure are planning to hold another fair in the near future.
