AB Horror is a literary publishing house exclusively for the “extreme horror genre.” Author Aron Beauregard created this publishing house to release his extreme horror novels. Beauregard has been writing horror fiction since he was in 6th grade. He became popular in 2010 and has released 20 novels as of 2025. AB is a collective created by Beauregard that works with horror writers. Only within the past few years has it had widespread attention on social media. This publishing company is unique because it only publishes books that push the boundaries of normal horror. It is called extreme horror for a reason. Delving into Beauregard’s books and AB Horror has been refreshing. For a while, videos about his books were circulating on social media, and they had caught quite a bit of attention. As an avid reader of horror, testing the boundaries of how far the human psyche can go with extreme horror is quite a wild ride. After his book was released by AB Horror, it became a cult classic.
Beauregard’s writing is nothing short of captivating. AB and Beauregard go hand in hand by both pushing limits of artistic horror that most publishers would not want to take the risk on. Which is why he created his own publishing company. He is now more well-known; Some people can handle the style, but it’s not for everyone. So, if you’re squeamish, I wouldn’t recommend reading these novels. It involves very descriptive, uncomfortable situations, and very descriptive bad individuals. With unique story lines and Beauregard’s signature writing style. The main protagonists in his books usually have backgrounds that are traumatic. Characters you really feel connected with, the main characters must escape the grips of their past lives. His books hold a kind of psychological depth and explore the extremes of what human behavior could be.
AB has brought a strong sense of community for extreme horror readers. It makes a statement that authors should not be afraid to share their work, no matter the story or medium, there is an audience for it. He was nominated for the Splatterpunk Awards. After finding out who Beauregard is, research shows he’s a nice person, contrary to popular belief about his morbid writing. He is a relatable author, with the trauma he endured in his life, so it helps other people who are also a little traumatized feel less alone. People who have dealt with trauma become rather desensitized, which is why these books are good for people who have that background. It is the art of his writing, and art pushes boundaries.
It has warnings too for all the extreme situations involved, that way you know what you are getting into. “Through the Eyes of Desperation: The Red Version” is a well-known novel published by AB and written by Beauregard. Red, a man running from his past life of crime, drugs, and mafia involvement to give his daughter a better life, when his world comes crashing down as the past finds a way to bring him to his knees. His mother is taken as collateral until he can return the money that he owes to some bad people. He has only a few days to do it. Red finds a place called the “Shadows,” an underground casino run by violence, drugs, and humiliation. No one is there because they want to be. It is an establishment where people bet their lives, or limbs to try and win. A story that leaves the reader on the edge of their seat! With time against Red, if he does not return in time with the money his mother pays, his life is over.
Stephen King, a prolific horror Author for over four decades, added some insight on the positives of the horror genre. Saying “People like to be scared… it’s the same as the old joke about the guy who beat his head against a wall because it feels good when he stops.” It’s the appeal of horror: the exhilaration of facing our fears in a controlled environment, leading to a profound sense of relief and safety afterward. A way of controlling a scary or traumatic book or movie, by being safe and not directly impacted.
If you are a fan of extreme horror or horror that pushes boundaries, look into checking out AB Horror.
