Arapahoe Community College’s Parker Campus will be closing on May 31, 2022.

President Stephanie Fujii announced the closure in an email sent to ACC employees on May 12. According to Fujii, the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) unanimously approved ACC’s sale of the Parker Campus to Douglas County School District (DCSD).

ACC’s Vice President of Student Affairs, Lisa Matye Edwards, said that, “we feel we can better serve potential students from that area more intentionally through other locations and options.”

According to a presentation from the DCSD School Board meeting agenda from Feb. 22, 2022, the building will be used to create an alternative education school. The presentation said the desired outcome was to “create and sustain a small, personalized learning experience for students that is research based and develops post secondary readiness.”

Fujii also announced that SBCCOE approved ACC’s lease agreement and partnership with DCSD for their new Legacy Campus in Lone Tree. According to Matye Edwards, ACC will be leasing space at the former Wildlife Experience, a building now owned by DCSD. ACC will later offer courses there.

“This is a great opportunity to reinvest in a more strategic and intentional presence in our Parker/Lone Tree service area,” wrote Fujii, “strengthening our partnership with DCSD in building programs, increasing enrollment, and meeting workforce training/education needs.”

Staff from Parker Campus have been offered other opportunities at the college and will begin working in those positions June 1, 2022.
