Colorado is a playground of endless adventure for outdoor enthusiasts.  Arapahoe Community College has an Outdoors Club to help students make the most of it.  The ACC Outdoors Club aims to make being in the outdoors accessible to all of its students year-round.  From rock climbing to snowshoeing, the club offers something for everyone.

This year’s list of ideas include kayaking and canoeing, paddle boarding, paintballing, and rock climbing, to name a few.  The club brings together students at ACC of every skill level for various types of outings throughout the state all year long.  The best part, ACC pays for these outings–that’s right–it’s free!  With the high cost of outside activities, this feature makes joining the Outdoors Club a no-brainer!

Eddie Miller, the club advisor, shared that last year the club’s activities included a “winter camping trip in a rented Sportsmobile, an overnight stay and skiing/snowboarding trip to Keystone and a multi-day camping trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park, as well as a variety of day hikes throughout the year.”

Miller added, “we also collaborated with Student Life over the summer for the annual ACC rafting trip, and made it an overnight adventure for the first time, too.”  The group typically had eight to twelve people in attendance for last year’s events, and is looking to grow that number this year.

The next meeting will be held at the Littleton Campus on September 29th in the second-floor student lounge.  Getting involved in school clubs is an excellent way to enrich your time as a student at ACC.  The Outdoor Club gives students the opportunity to explore Colorado while forging friendships and making memories.
