Campus bookstore offers students opportunity to save

Textbooks just got a lot cheaper at the campus bookstore.

The ACC bookstore will now price match competitor’s pricing on textbook purchases and rentals. Accepted competitors include Amazon, Chegg, Barnes & Noble and local bookstores.

“The price match program is Follet’s next step in our savings and access commitment to students,” Don Germano, President of Follet Higher Education Group, said in a press release.

ACC students can now receive the best textbook pricing available–with very few restrictions. Notably, price matching excludes digital books. Also, the ISBN numbers and edition of the competitor’s ad must match the bookstore textbook, which is the ACC-approved version of the book.

One caveat to textbook rental price matching: the competitor’s rental period must match Follet’s rental period in order for the ad to be considered acceptable. So, make sure you shop around and find a competitor who has the same rental period before attempting to negotiate a lower price at the campus bookstore.

Price matching at the ACC campus bookstore is easy, but it isn’t offered online and must be done in store. Upon checkout, students can show a screenshot of a digital ad on their cellphone or bring in a hard copy of a competitor’s ad to receive a discounted price on purchases and rentals. The difference will be discounted at the time of purchase, and returned to the customer via a Follett gift card. This includes students who are using their financial aid funds to pay for textbooks, so do some research and find the best-available price on textbooks as a part of your pre-semester preparations.

Follett gift cards can be used to purchase necessary materials for class, such as pens and notebooks, or the gift cards can be used in the Follett-owned Espresso Yourself Cafe.
