Lights, Camera, Action!

ACC’s Film Club hosted its First Annual Short Film Contest during the Spring 2016 semester. All students were able to participate in the contest, as long as their film only ran 1 to 4 minutes. The first place winner won $100, the second place winner won $75, and the third place winner won $50. The judges of the contest were Dr. Lance Rubin and Professor Juliet Hubbell. The types of films were narrative, documentary and experimental.

The winners for this year’s Short Film Contest were Marinda Churchman, Jason Wall and Dean Sanders. Marinda Churchman won third place for her video “Doggie Days”; Jason Wall won second place for his video “Dog Days”; Dean Sanders won first place for his video “Sometimes the Beauty Is Right in Front of Us.”

“The Film Club is a student-operated club that offers weekly screenings of films chosen by students,” said Juliet Hubbell, Film Club Adviser. “The Film Club hopes to organize an outing to a local film festival in the future. The [Film] contest will be held next year in the Fall and will be advertised in local journals, at other college campuses and through social media.”
