Michael Burdick, a fourth semester business ACC student, doesn’t really have spare time juggling a full load and two jobs.

“I chose business because it transfers best to Liberty University of Virginia for accounting,” Burdick said. “I really like the business department. My professor changed the way I view business.”

He says his professors are more than teachers — they’re friends.

Burdick’s true passion is law and politics. But as he said, “Accounting is more legitimate to provide” for a family.

For him, family is important. With six younger siblings (five brothers and one sister), he has a lot of fun. Having a big homeschool family is something he loves and would never change.

“I enjoy having a big family,” Burdick said. “It’s a blessing.”

With such a large family and heavy load, you might not think Burdick has a lot of free time. And he doesn’t. But when he does find spare time, he enjoys a variety of activities.

“I like reading, writing, hiking, backpacking and strategy games,” he said.

He has lived in Colorado his whole life. This gives him plenty of opportunity for outdoors activities. However, his favorite sport is fencing.

Burdick also enjoys board games that take a lot of thought, like Risk. Not only that, but he enjoys writing political science and theory.

“The more complicated, the better,” Burdick said.

Though he likes complicated games, the choice to attend ACC was pretty simple: Price, program and people made all the difference, he said.
