March is Women’s History Month, and Arapahoe Community College (ACC) invites and welcomes all to celebrate with a luncheon honoring women in leadership.

ACC’s Inclusive Excellence Council (IEC) and the Student Life Office support the event with sponsorship. The IEC vows to support diversity, equity, and inclusion while creating a campus culture that supports every student and staff member. The Student Life Office supports connection and growth through leadership on campus, bringing fruitful and lasting experiences to all students.

Each leadership luncheon holds a theme chosen by the National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA). This year, the topic is on providing healing and promoting hope. According to the NWHA, “this theme is both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic.” Moreover, it provides recognition to “the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.”

The panel will feature:

  • Heather Greenwood, owner and co-founder of GraceFull Café and the GraceFull Foundation
  • Sophia Meharena, primary care pediatrician who services diverse families and those with limited resources
  • Lauren Y. Casteel, President of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado

Attendees will listen to shared experiences, ask questions, and participate in avid discussion. ACC encourages the community to close out a historic month with an hour of dining next to these influential and impactful women.

The name of the event, last held in March of 2019, was changed from “Women in Leadership Luncheon” to “Honoring Women in Leadership Luncheon.” Rebecca Terpstra, event organizer and CAD program chair, states this was a choice made in hopes of making the event “more inviting to participants of all genders.”

“We hope to see a diverse group of students this year!” Terpstra said in an e-mail. “The event is always held in March which is, of course, Women’s History Month.”

The luncheon will be held on March 30, 2022, inside the Summit Room on the Littleton campus. The event will run from noon to 1 p.m. Free lunch is provided and there are no required fees. An RSVP is required to attend the event.
