Ashlyn Stetzel’s Fatal Pitfall

Ashlyn Victoria Stetzel, 18, of Littleton, died October 28, 2016 as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic theatre accident after falling into the pit the day before opening night.
She was born July 22, 1998 in Tucson, Arizona to parents Jeff and Ann Marie Stetzel. She attended DeGrazia Elementary School in Tucson and attended middle and high school in the Littleton Public School system. She graduated from Littleton High School earlier this year, where she found her passion for performing. She was enrolled at Arapahoe Community College pursuing a degree in Journalism and Contemporary Media.
From an early age, Ashlyn was an avid performer, lighting up the stage wherever she went. She started dance when she was six years old and choir in elementary school, but it wasn’t until middle school when she found a home on the stage. She participated in many shows and countless choir concerts. She was an extremely active member of her congregation at St. Andrew United Methodist Church and loved working with the youth and children there.
Ashlyn is survived by her parents Jeff and Ann Marie of Centennial and her sister Sydney of Westminster. She also leaves her maternal grandparents Terry and Alice Owens of Greensboro, North Carolina and her maternal great-grandmother Laura Culp of Archer City, Texas. She is also survived by her boyfriend Tim Maytum and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 10am at Adair United Methodist Church in Adair, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the M.F.P.S. (Mothers For Pit Safety) program to raise awareness for common theatre tragedies happening every day.
