International student Maha Elhag motivated to pursue nursing degree.
Humans of ACC is a series of Q&A presentations about students, faculty and staff.
Today’s focus is on, Maha Elhag, an international and work-study student at ACC.
Arapahoe Pinnacle: What degree are you pursuing at ACC and what motivates you to pursue it?
Maha Elhag: I am going to have an associate of general studies at ACC then transfer to a 4-year college to do my BSN. My real motivation is trying to imagine myself graduated and hired in a good position as a nurse.
AP: What has been your favorite class you’ve taken so far at ACC?
ME: Cultural Anthropology and Anatomy and Physiology.
AP: Do you have plans for continued study after ACC? An advanced degree? Where?
ME: Yes, I am planning to transfer to UCD to continue my undergraduate and graduate education.
AP: You work a work study job in the Writing Center. What is that like? Is it difficult to balance both your job and school?
ME: I like working in that place (the Writing center) so much and appreciate being able to work there. As an international student, working in a place like a Writing Center added a lot for me in the language and qualifications field. It is kind of hard to balance between school, home and work especially with a little kid at home. However, I can find some time while working to study also, and that is a great thing about the concept of work-study.
