Come play with up-and-coming technology at the Show and Tech event
It is a fact that libraries are changing everyday. On Wednesday, February 10, from Noon- 2 p.m., ACC’s Library and Learning Commons will host a Show and Tech event, showing just how committed Arapahoe Community Libraries are to keeping up with the newest technologies available. Make sure to join them as they showcase a variety of these new tech devices.
These technology resources currently include:
Google Glass – A wearable computer that is worn like eyeglasses. The screen is a small cube in the upper right-hand corner of the device, visible only to the wearer, and a tiny microphone puts the sound right behind your ear. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format that can interact with the Internet via voice commands. You can’t buy them yet, but Arapahoe Library District has a pair and wants to share them with Show and Tech patrons.
Oculus Rift – A virtual reality head-mounted display, developed by Oculus VR, that places the viewer in many gaming, social and multimedia settings.
Dash and Dot Robots – Two little robots that teach kids how to code through fun.
Drones – With a single touch of a screen patrons can control the AR Drone 2.0, maneuvering it to take-off, land, hover, flip and take high quality 720p footage.
Spheros – The Sphero Robot is a multipurpose tool for learning, exploring and playing. Whether you’re interested in the original app-enabled Sphero ball, or the BB8 Droid, the Show and Tech fair can help.
3D Printers – A 3D Printer is a dedicated machine that takes computerized 3D designs and creates them in the physical world, typically in plastic.
Beam+ Robot – Allows users to interact with remote locations by coupling high-end video and audio with the freedom of motion to move about a space.
GoPro Cameras – A mounted video camera that allows you to take pictures on the go. Capture your life experiences and share them with others.
Makey Makey – An invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet. It’s a simple Invention Kit for Beginners and Experts to do art, engineering and everything in-between.
Digital Resources – Such as eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, downloadable/streaming music and video.
