Volunteers: Opportunity abounds, regardless of your interests
ACC and the communities around its campuses offer several volunteering opportunities for students.
Students can help with events on campus, and they can provide assistance to different organizations near campus.
“We love volunteers,” said Linda Edwards from the Edwards Foundation for Rescued Animals. “We couldn’t do this without them.”
Through volunteering, an ACC student is able to better reach out to the campus and community, as well as boost his or her resume.
On-campus volunteering mainly consists of helping set up and take down materials for several events such as club gatherings and student affairs.
The Edwards Foundation for Rescued Animals is an off-campus organization where an ACC student can volunteer. It is privately owned and helps rescue large animals such as horses, goats and even llamas. A student would be asked to help feed animals, and to help cleaning out their pens.
A student can also volunteer for Freedom Service Dogs of America. This group volunteers to work in the kennels, as well as help out with other projects.
All a student has to do is reach out to any of the various organizations below and they will be eager to have them help out.
The options don’t stop there. Students can even go to their local parks or roads to clean up litter, plant trees where needed or even make meals for those who need them.

Another great place to volunteer is South Platte Park – a river runs through it! The South Platte River is a stone’s throw from ACC’s Littleton Campus and the Park is always looking for volunteer’s. If you love the great outdoors, volunteering at the 880-acre South Platte Park (part of South Suburban Parks and Recreation District) is the place for you. As a Park volunteer since 2013, I’ve had the opportunity to meet great people, learn about the Park’s flora and fauna, guide school and public programs, and earn the Certified Interpretive Guide credential (CIG).
