The Garden of the Gods was established in 1909, and in 1971 it was announced a designated National Natural Landmark . Located in Colorado Springs, the magnificent park certainly has the elegance to catch anyone’s eye.

The Garden of the Gods is a giant park that consists of unique scenery of red rock formations, over 1300 acres of land and a long history. First being called Red Rock Corral by the Europeans, the park then officially became known as Garden of the Gods in 1859 when two surveyors, M.S. Beach, and Rufus Cable, labeled the park as a “fit place for the Gods to assemble”.

They have a café, gift shop and a little museum in the visitor center. So you can enjoy time there with kids in the museum, or having a coffee with friends or by yourself. Since 2008, they’ve possessed a dinosaur fossil at the museum, so the kids will love it. The visitor center is a good place to start your visit at Garden of the Gods before you set out on your adventure.

You have the opportunity to see all of the park by car, bike or walking. They have break-stops, so you can park your car or bike and see the view; you’re sure to love what you’ll see.

According to the Visit Colorado Springs website, there are an estimated 2 million people per year visiting the high-elevation attraction, which is positioned at 6,400 feet above sea-level.

Additionally, the park provides over 15 miles of hiking trails, biking, birding, rock climbing, horseback riding, and even Jeep, e-Bike and Segway tours.

The park is truly beautiful.

For your convenience, there are bathrooms in all sections of the park, large parking lots and trails. Plus, the entrance is 100 percent free.

Work hours for visitor and natural center is from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., with the Cafe Grill closing at 4:30 p.m., and the park from 5 a.m. – 10 p.m.
