“The sun always shines on J-Day,” says Jack Kennedy, executive director of Colorado Student Media Association (CSMA).

Over 1,400 students, advisors and speakers arrived at Colorado State University on the clear, bright morning of Thursday, Oct. 19 for J-Day 2017, the official conference for the CSMA. This year’s conference boasted 10 exhibitors, 45 speakers, and 73 schools. The one-day event brings student journalists from Colorado high schools and middle schools together with experts from the field of journalism to expand students’ knowledge and celebrate their successes.

Pinnacle editors’ Scott Bright, Nico Danks, Bryden Smith and Emily Langenberg presented “Our Responsibility to Our Greater Community” at the event. Jamey Trotter, Coordinator of the Journalism and Contemporary Media program, and Daniel Lefe, Senior Student Recruitment Specialist, manned the Arapahoe Community College exhibit table.
