Broncos D Welcome Osweiler’s Return with a Victory
The Broncos defense returned to form last Monday as they held the Texan offense and frustrated former quarterback Brock Osweiler; leading to their fifth win of the season. Houston gave up two turnovers and created only 14 first-down conversions throughout the game.
The first quarter started off slow for the Broncos. Houston kicker Nick Novak put up the first points of the game with a forty-three yard field goal with 7:11 left in the first quarter. As the first quarter concluded, Novak kicked another forty-three yard field goal making the game 6-0.
The Broncos rallied in the second half with the fear of a potential third loss swelling in their guts. C.J Anderson ran the ball in for six points with the addition of McManus’ extra point to put the Broncos up 7-6. Demaryius Thomas put the next six points on the board by way of a four yard pass from QB Trevor Siemian.
The Broncos would leave the first half of the game up 14-6.
Houston answered in the beginning of the third quarter with a field goal from Nick Novak. On the Texans’ next possession running back Alfred Blue fumbled with a recovery by Denver linebacker Todd Davis. The Broncos took advantage of the fumble with a touchdown run from RB Devontae Booker; giving Denver a 21-9 lead.
At the beginning of the fourth, Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler ‘threw’ a fumble giving the Broncos possession of the ball. With 11:36 on the game clock, McManus kicked a twenty-two yard field goal creating a fifteen point differential. Later McManus would do it again with a thirty-two yard field goal.
The Broncos welcomed Osweiler back to Denver with a final score of 27-9.
