Anderson Farms is the Place to be for Fall Family Fun

Are you and your family scratching your heads, flipping through ads, trying to figure out what to do this weekend before Halloween arrives?  If you are anything like my family, you’ve busted your costumes out of their wrappers and just put the finishing touches on to make sure they look good.  Itching to get to the 31st, it can be difficult to pass the time on the weekends leading up to Halloween.

Look no further.  Anderson Farms is the epitome of fall family fun and will satisfy all of your apple cider, pumpkin picking, and haunted house needs.

As you drive up a rural country highway(Co-52), you can see the massive pumpkin atop a silo from afar. Corn fields surround this fall oasis and dirt flies up as you get closer.  If you don’t believe me when I say it is in the country, it is located on road 3 ¼.  But get there early, as parking can be a bit tough.  Despite parking troubles, it is well worth a full day spent.  The admission lines are long as well, so purchasing img_0280tickets online is recommended.

Better yet grab some friends and pitch in on a fire pit($75) to sit and roast marshmallows and enjoy the peace and quiet with the corn fields at your back.
If you have little ones like I do, give them a ride in a barrel car around a dirt plot or have their picture taken with the pumpkin princess.

As simple as that may sound, they’ll love it.  Check out the pumpkin cannon and watch the coordinators launch vegetables over a hundred feet.  Pay a couple bucks and slingshot the gourds yourself.

A $25 ticket (including admission) gets you into either a haunted house or a truck ride shooting paintballs at zombies.  Another $20 and you can do both the haunted house and the zombie shooting.

Don’t feel like playing the price for the extra attractions?  That’s alright.  How does getting lost in a corn maze sound, stretches over 8 miles and spanning a whopping 30 acres?  Grab a pamphlet upon entering and complete the scavenger hunt while winding your way through the mammoth maze that can take hours to complete.  Need more farm activities to entertain the kiddos?  Head to the center of the farm and listen to live bluegrass.  Walk on over to the barn and you can find a petting zoo complete with an alpaca and goat feeding zoo.

Maybe you’re the kind of person who wants to use something crazy or just see some funny looking pumpkin sitting on your porch.  Maybe you forgot to pick out a pumpkin for this year (this close to Halloween, that’s practically a sin)?  For me, the best part was riding on the back of a big wagon truck and taking your pick of acres of pumpkins.  Either way, look no further: white, red, green, lumpy, bumpy, huge, or teeny tiny, they have all shapes and sizes of pumpkins to make your inner child jump for joy.  Find just the right one and break that puppy right off the vine and take it home!
