Colorado is full of rocks just begging to be climbed.  One of the most iconic groupings being Garden of the Gods.  This locally loved destination is located across from Pikes Peak and the quaint town of Manitou Springs, in Colorado Springs.  Garden of the Gods is a gorgeous public park and National Natural Landmark that offers many adventures for every season.  With red rock spires, massive sheer faces perfect for top-roping, and high exposure multi-pitch climbing, the possibilities are as endless as the views.

Garden Of Gods

Garden of the Gods is comprised of sandstone which makes for different kind of challenge while climbing.  The rock in this park is smooth and breaks apart easily creating loose sand that rests on the surface of the rock.  This kind of surface can make climbing the rock more difficult.  It is also forbidden to use chalk on your hands while climbing as it has been deemed harmful to the rocks natural state and aesthetic.  While most of Colorado’s rock climbing is done on granite, taking advantage of climbing on a different rock with it’s own challenges is a great way to spend an afternoon!
