The Arapahoe Library District showed us what they were made of
The Arapahoe Library District came to ACC’s Littleton campus Library and Learning Commons this past week, hoping to demonstrate the wide variety of technology resources they have available to the community through their technology showcase, called “Show and Tech.” The event took place on Wednesday, February 10, from Noon- 2 p.m., lasting longer than their regular 60-minute time slots, giving students from all over campus the opportunity to learn and play with the big, up-and-coming technology of the future.
One of the most popular devices at the event was the Oculus Rift, a virtual reality head-mounted display, developed by Oculus VR, that places the viewer in many gaming, social and multimedia settings. Another hit was the adorable, and culturally relevant, Sphero BB-8. The new Star Wars Droid, controlled by your phone, or tablet, was indeed the Droid all were looking for.
Sad you missed out on this cool, techy event? Arapahoe Library District has weekly events and some are tech-based. Check out their calendar for these up-coming dates.
You can also come visit the Library and Learning Commons if you’re looking to learn more about technology. There, they have IPad, Kindles, and even a Google Cardboard device for students and faculty to check out. They also offer digital resources, such as eBooks, audio books, magazines, downloadable/streaming music and video. Also, you can take advantage of the one-on-one tutoring for the latest Microsoft Word programs with skilled librarians.
