Fans of horror recently had the opportunity to dress up as one of their favorite horror movie characters and attend an annual festival, Colorado Festival of Horror (COFOH), created by Daniel Crosier, Bret Smith, Jeanni Smith, and Daniel ‘Smurf’ Sharner back in 2020, a convention surrounded by all things horror and spooky.
The community did not disappoint with the horror-themed outfits, and while there was a theme, not everyone in attendance who chose to dress up went with the theme: aliens. The costumes themselves ranged from store-bought to handmade, along with the props the locals brought.

Like any such convention, featured guests well-known for their roles in horror movies, included Jenette Goldstein (Aliens), Micheal Biehn (Aliens), Mark Rolston (Saw VI), Ricco Ross (Aliens), Daniel Kash (Aliens), Cynthia Scott (Aliens), Sybil Danning (Halloween 2007) and more.
Some attendees were also able to represent their brands by selling artwork or other merchandise. One such vendor was Gruff Bear Creations, which was notable due to the stained glass pieces of art they were selling. Ownder Robert Brooks stated that these works-of-art are actually made from colored cardstock cut specifically to certain designs.

Terror in the Corn, a popular haunted house in Erie, Colorado, was also in attendance, promoting the next comic book in their series about their haunted house.
“The reason we like to come is, first and foremost, it is [sic] our audience, people who like horror and being scared,” Michael Edwards, one of the creators of Terror in the Corn, said in an interview about the importance of their business maintaining a presence at COFOH. “We also love this convention because we feel it is one of the best conventions in the Denver area. We feel that this convention will continue to grow into a festival and us as sponsors want to see that and be there as support.”

This year, the convention was held from September 12th through September 14th and was located at the Denver Marriott South at Park Meadows, 10345 Park Meadows Drive, Lone Tree, CO 80124.
Horror is not always pleasant to some people, but as long as the mentality is known that the characters are just characters on a screen for one’s entertainment, the industry can be enjoyed. Now, the main question is, what is your favorite scary movie?
