Have you ever been to The Butterfly Pavilion in central Westminster? Housed at the intersection of W. 104th Ave and Westminster Blvd, this humble nature center is home to not just butterflies and moths of all kinds, but other creatures including insects, arachnids, sea creatures, and invertebrates. Besides checking out these critters in their habitat cases, you can also hold Rosie, the Chilean rose hair tarantula, or Goldie, the Chaco Golden Knee tarantula. Once finished with the insects, you can head on over to the sea creature area, which has an open tank where you can (very gently) pet a few horseshoe crabs and starfish. Finally, after checking out the butterfly pavilion itself, your kiddos can get their remaining energy out by running around in the play area. The Butterfly Pavilion also hosts birthday parties and monthly events (such as Rosie’s Discovery Summer Camps and Rainforest Yoga) for those interested. The pavilion also offers donation and sponsorship programs (which can be accessed on the company’s website here.
While you can purchase tickets in person, it’s advised to purchase them in advance on their website. The pavilion also caters to customers that have SNAP/EBT cards to help with discounted tickets.
