Clothing swap: Items traded, resources conserved
ACC’s Sustainability Club Clothing Swap was a success, one of its helpers said. The two-day event was held on Oct. 14 and 15.
Ashley Renz, an ACC student who has been helping for the past three semesters, had been there since 10 a.m. on Oct. 15, with 4 drop-offs by 11:30am.
“Pretty frequent,” she said.
The amount of leftovers the club has varies with the amount of publicity the event gets, and how many students and faculty participate.
“It depends on the level of interest from semester to semester,” Renz said.
The most left overs she remembers is 4 full boxes.
Her favorite part of helping out at the Clothing Swap was “getting more clothes for myself,” she said. “It’s nice to bring in new things and find new things,” Renz said. “It’s a community. You can get lots of free clothes. There’s lots of fun stuff. There’s something for everybody.”
The club offered jewelry, sunglasses, purses, dresses, scarves, formal wear, children’s clothing and more.
The Sustainability Club holds the clothing swap every semester in an effort to conserve resources by reusing items instead of storing them – or simply throwing them away.
