On September 16th and 17th, Arapahoe Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society represented ACC at the Honors in Action Academy regional conference, hosted by Pueblo Community College.  PTK, a national honors society that operates within community colleges, holds the Honors in Action Academy conference to discuss and enrich their Honors in Action projects.

The Honors in Action project is a competition that happens every year between the community college honor societies all over the world.  The main goal of the competition is to encourage students to develop leadership skills, fellowship, and service to their communities by challenging them to reflect on current issues affecting the world.

The conference brought together community colleges from all over Colorado and Wyoming, consisting of lectures from inspirational speakers and entrepreneurs, group activities, and seminars that intended to help students develop a project that will have a positive impact in their local and global communities.

ACC’s Sigma Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is currently working on some great things for ACC in the upcoming months.  Weekly meetings are on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room M3660 at ACC Littleton’s main campus.  Sigma Phi encourages anyone who should feel the inclination to get involved and learn more about their current works in progress to do so and attend a meeting.

SP is also currently working on two big projects for the year: the Honors in Action Project and the College Project.  To learn about these projects and more, please visit the Sigma Phi office in room M2845 again located at ACC’s Littleton campus.
