Four Great Rock Albums from 2016

Four Great Rock Album Releases

For those of you searching for great new music, and the fall being right around the corner, here are four great albums from 2016 you might have missed.

The Strokes’ newest EP Future, Past, Present came out June 3rd of this year. With three great tracks it was great to hear the band play music like their ’00s era New York City rock. The EP’s also show aspects of their recently evolved style of music and and what we could possibly expect to hear in future projects.“The Strokes have gone where we, and perhaps even they never thought they would: back to the future of rock.” (NME).

Iggy Pop’s Post Pop Depression was released March 18th. Iggy’s 17th solo album produced and recorded with Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. The album has nine songs, and is forty two minutes long. With two big name artists no wonder the album had such great reviews. “They juggle tight and loose, conjuring a ravaged cadaver in sharp funeral suit.” (Rolling Stones) With the late David Bowie it was a delight that the album had a great energy that resembled Iggy’s collaborations with Mr. Bowie.

Teens of Denial by Car Seat Headrest is their 13th studio album and 2nd album with Matador Records. With a great sound familiar with ‘90s Indy-rock this band delivers with a great rock album. “ Toledo (singer) comes off as a rock loving child of alt-rock’s skepticism working backwards towards something to believe in.”(Rolling Stones). The music is great, and consequently, Toledo shines with great vocals and interesting lyrics. “The album is, at its best, palliative care for the illness of modernity.”(Consequenceofsound)
