Pride Month is here! Celebrate with a fresh slice at ACC Littleton.

Another June means another Pride Month! Arapahoe Community College (ACC) is hosting a Pride event at the North Entrance of the Littleton campus on June 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pizza, pins, and other such goodies will be handed out for students at the “Pizza & Pride” event.

The event was created by the Student Government Association (SGA) to help “make students feel seen in their identities at ACC,” according to President Isaac Winchester of the SGA.

“We’ve had about 50 students send in requests for the rainbow ACC Puma Pride t-shirts we have ordered,” Winchester stated in an e-mail. He said he anticipates that amount of guests at the event itself.

With the summer semester docking a majority of student participation, the SGA still hopes for an engaging event that helps all ACC community members feel seen.

“The weather and risks that come… during a pandemic can be a barrier for students to be able to engage with Pride events,” Winchester stated. “So I am hopeful that this will give students a choice in engaging with Pride Month how they want/need.”

The “Pizza & Pride” event is only one of the varied Pride events that ACC will be holding. Alongside it is the ability to join a Denver Pride 5K team called “The Proud Pumas,” as well as “Forgotten Spaces”: a chance to travel back in time to relearn the environment of queer Denver from all the way back to World War II.

“I am hopeful that this will be a fun and engaging event for our LGBTQ+ students,” Winchester said regarding “Pizza & Pride.”

Pride pins, pizza, and ACC swag will be available at this event, so students and staff can drop by and get their Pride on!
