Free beer, coffee, food, crafts and prizes are available at local businesses throughout September as part of the fourth annual Great Douglas County Brew Tour.

Ten breweries, three events, two exclusive brews, and one coffee house are left in this year’s month-long tour. Downhill Brewing is offering beer and cheese pairings on Wednesday, September 20.

Want to indulge your sweet tooth? Try beer and chocolate pairings from The Chocolate Therapist at 105 West Brewing on Thursday, September 21.

Witness the tapping of exclusive Brew Tour beers and make beer-related crafts at 3 Freaks Brewery on Thursday, September 28.

Interested in a non-alcoholic brew? Learn about hip methods of making coffee at Monk and Mongoose on Wednesday, September 27. All events run from 6-8 p.m. and must be registered for in advance.

If you hate to make plans in advance, but want in on the fun, skip registering for the free events and fill your Brew Tour passport on your own dime. Get your Brew Tour passport stamped by at least five of the participating breweries, turn your stamped passport into any Douglas County Library location, and collect your commemorative Brew Tour pint glass (while supplies last). Alternatively, you can win prizes by posting a picture of yourself with a Brew Tour coaster or coffee sleeve. Use the hashtag #picsforyourpassport and tag Douglas County Libraries (DCL) to be eligible.

The Douglas County Libraries and local businesses are sponsoring these events in an effort to encourage people to experience their libraries in unexpected ways.

“This fun tour allows Douglas County Libraries to highlight our partnerships with businesses that are a special part of our community all through September,” says Kerri Morgan, program and events supervisor with DCL. “And it’s also a great opportunity for us to reach patrons who aren’t our typical library users. “

The Great Douglas County Brew Tour is DCL’s contribution to the global program Outside the Lines: Libraries Reintroduced. Through unique events and creative campaigns, Outside the Lines strives to shift public perception of libraries and demonstrate that they are more relevant than ever before. Designed by Colorado library marketers and directors, Outside the Lines is now a worldwide initiative with 206 participants across 11 countries.
